02/10/2008 : Protient, Inc. to close Norfolk, NE facility

Protient today announced the closing of their Norfolk, Nebraska processing facility; the closure to be effective immediately. The company is evaluating its strategic opportunities with respect to disposition of the facility, including but not limited to the sale to a party interested in its capabilities as a manufacturing site. The closure will result in the loss of approximately 65 jobs at the site. Employees were informed at a meeting held today 10/2/08.

Protient, Inc. has its headquarters in St. Paul, MN and is a manufacturer and marketer of dairy based ingredients, specializing in dairy proteins. Protient is part of the ABF ingredients group of Associated British Foods.

12/09/2008 : Appointment - Corey Majorowicz and Ben Stockwell

We are pleased to announce that Corey Majorowicz and Ben Stockwell have joined Protient effective September 8^th. Both will be working in the Technology Group. Corey has been hired as an Analytical Chemist and will be working closely with Dave Kornmann. He has over twenty years of experience with Boston Scientific, PUR Water, Midwest Analytical, Land O Lakes, Pace Analytical and General Mills.Ben has been hired as a Chemist and will be working in the New Product Development area. Ben has spent the last 8 years at ConAgra Foods both as a food technician and a regulatory affairs specialist. Please welcome Corey and Ben and wish them all the success in their new roles.

12/09/2008 : Appointment of Rick Fahnestock

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Rick Fahnestock as Plant Manager at the Springfield facility. Rick joined Protient in December of 2007 as Operations Manager for Springfield. Ricks appointment will start September 8^th.

08/04/2008 : Appointment - Ewan Ha

We are pleased to announce the addition of Y. W. “Ewan” Ha, Ph. D. as Vice President of Technologies to our Protient staff, effective March 31, 2008. Ewan will have oversight of both the R&D and QA departments and will report directly to Todd Watson, CEO Protient.

Ewan was most recently the founder of Functional Ingredients Research, Inc. and has extensive dairy research experience. He has previously worked for Glanbia Foods Inc., FMC BioPolymer, Proliant Inc., Haitai Dairy Co. and Seo-Ju Dairy Co. He received his BS and MS in Dairy Technology from Seoul National University, an MS in Food Science and Human Nutrition from Michigan State University and his Ph. D. in Food Technology from Clemson University. Ewan will office in St. Paul initially; moving to the proposed new Protient Technology Center in Eagan, MN upon its completion later this summer.

26/02/2008 : Appointment - Barbara Towne Ducat

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Barbara Towne Ducat as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer with immediate effect. Barbara will have supervisory responsibilities for Finance, Accounting, MIS and IT of Protient Inc.

Barbara was most recently Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer for Minnesota-based Tyco/Covalence Plastics. Prior to Tyco/Covalence Barbara held a variety of positions with Cargill beginning in audit and ending with senior financial roles in various Cargill businesses around the United States.

Barbara has a BBA degree in Accounting from Iowa State University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
